Your accountant, personally. For 20 years running.

I'm Vadim Borisoff. Since 2005 I've handled personal, self-employed and corporate taxes for people and small businesses across the Greater Toronto Area — directly, securely, and without the runaround of a big firm.

What I do

Every kind of Canadian return, handled by one person.

Whether it's a single T4 or a corporation with payroll and HST, you get the same direct line and the same 20 years of experience behind the file.

How it works

Four steps. No office visit required.

The whole process is secure and digital — which means it works exactly the same whether you're in North York or on the other side of the country.

Free intro call

Tell me your situation. I'll tell you what you need and what it costs — before any work starts.

Send your documents

Upload slips and receipts through a secure link. I'll tell you exactly what's missing.

I prepare & review with you

Your return is prepared, then walked through with you so you understand every number.

Approve & e-file

You sign off electronically and I file with the CRA. You keep a full copy on record.

Who you'll be working with

Two decades of GTA taxes — and one person who knows your file.

Before founding Common Accounting, I trained as a financial analyst at TD Bank and worked in mortgage lending — so I understand money from the lender's side as well as the taxpayer's. Since 2005 I've focused entirely on Canadian tax.

When you work with me, you aren't handed to a rotating team or a call centre. You deal with me directly — the same person from your first question to your filed return.

Why people stay

Twenty years, and you always speak to the same person.

No handoffs

The person who prepares your return is the person who answers the phone and the person who handles the CRA letter. There is no account manager and no seasonal preparer.

Remote, and secure

Documents shared electronically, review by phone or video, electronic signing. Nothing sits in a car or a filing cabinet, and you do not drive to Yonge Street to hand over paper.

English and Russian

Tax is hard enough in your first language. If Russian is easier for explaining your situation, the whole thing can be done in Russian.

Common questions

Before you book.

Can you handle my taxes if we never meet in person?

Yes — and most of my clients now work this way. You send documents through a secure link, we review together by phone or video, and you approve and sign electronically. Nothing about the quality of the work depends on being in the same room.

What's the deadline to file my personal return?

For most individuals, April 30. If you or your spouse are self-employed, the filing deadline moves to June 15 — but any balance owing is still due April 30, so waiting costs you interest.

What happens if I file late?

The CRA charges 5% of your balance owing plus 1% for each full month the return is late, up to 12 months. If you've been charged a late-filing penalty in any of the three prior years and the CRA formally demanded a return, it can rise to 10% plus 2% per month for up to 20 months — plus compound daily interest. You can estimate yours with the late-filing calculator.

I haven't filed in several years. Can you help?

Yes. Multiple back years are common and fixable, and filing voluntarily is almost always better than waiting for the CRA to reach out. We'll work through the oldest year forward and get you current.

Do I have to report property I own outside Canada?

If the total cost amount of your specified foreign property was over CAD $100,000 at any point in the year, you must file Form T1135. Penalties start at $25 per day, so this is one to get right — the T1135 checker will tell you where you stand.

How much will it cost?

It depends on complexity, and you'll get a clear number before any work begins. The introductory consultation is free and carries no obligation.

Not sure where to start?

Book a free consultation. I'll look at your situation and tell you exactly what you need — no obligation, no sales pitch.
