Bookkeeping for GTA small businesses

Clean books all year mean tax season is a formality — and you actually know how the business is doing before the year ends.

Who this is for

Behind on the books

Months of receipts in a folder and an HST deadline coming. We reconstruct from statements and get you current.

Growing past spreadsheets

Revenue is up and the spreadsheet is no longer reliable. We set up something that scales and keep it running.

Want year-end to be quiet

You already keep the books but want them reconciled properly so the tax return is not an annual scramble.

What's included

What I do for you

Monthly reconciliation

Bank and credit card accounts reconciled every month, so the numbers you make decisions on are the numbers the CRA would see.

HST tracking and filing

Collected HST and input tax credits tracked as you go, so the return is a report rather than an investigation.

Payroll coordination

Source deductions tracked against PD7A remittances through the year, which is what prevents a PIER review at year end.

Catch-up work

A year or more behind? We reconstruct from bank statements, reconcile against what was already filed, and find the mismatches before the CRA does.

Year-end handover

Because the same person prepares your return, nothing is re-explained in spring and nothing gets lost in translation.

Plain answers during the year

Bookkeeping questions get answered when they come up, not batched until March.

Why reconciled books make everything else cheaper

Most tax problems begin as bookkeeping problems. Reconciled books mean the HST return matches the income statement, the payroll remittances match the T4 summary, and a CRA query is answered in an afternoon rather than a fortnight.

We keep the books for owner-managed businesses across the GTA and prepare the year-end from them directly — which means no scramble each spring reconstructing a year from bank statements and memory.

Questions

Bookkeeping FAQ

Which software should I use?

Wave works well for simple service businesses; QuickBooks suits more complex needs with inventory or payroll. I work in both and will set up whichever fits.

Can you clean up two years of mess?

Yes, and it is a common request. Catch-up work is billed separately from ongoing monthly bookkeeping, and you will get a fixed estimate first.

Do I need bookkeeping if I am a sole proprietor?

You need records good enough to support what you claim. For many sole proprietors that is achievable with light monthly upkeep rather than full bookkeeping.

Can you fix a year of bookkeeping that's behind?

Yes, and it's a common starting point. We reconstruct from bank and credit card statements, reconcile against HST and payroll filings already submitted, and identify mismatches that would otherwise surface as a CRA query. Once it's current, keeping it current is far cheaper than repeating the exercise.
